Driver Training with BSR:
BSR
are now offering the chance to get started in motorsport through
karting without having to go to the time, trouble and a lot
of expense before you know whether you can make the grade. Novice
driver training with BSR is done using our own race karts.
Starting with the
basic 'ground school' you will learn about the safety aspects
of the sport, the flags, clothing, the track, the
kart, its controls, chassis, engine, handling and basic maintenance.
After sucessfully
completing the ground school you will then have a walk round
the track to explain racing lines and braking points. Finally
you will get in your kart and put into practice what you've
learned in the class room. You will have a briefing before each
track sortie which will be followed by a debreifing with advice
and instruction on how to improve your driving style and consequently
your lap times. During these sorties you will experience the
various flags at work and you will have to show your awareness
of them. Above all you must demonstrate that you are aware of
your surroundings, we don't expect lap records just consistant
safe driving.
When
you achieve the required standard you will be put up for
your ARKS test at our local club.
Ground
school class sizes are based on no more than 4 drivers from
each racing class
Costs
Each
person wishing to take the ARKS test must first purchase the
'Starting Karting' pack which contains a video showing the requirements
needed for passing the test, your licence application and other
documentation. If you are over 18 or have medical condition
you are required to have a medical examination with your GP
prior to taking the test. The pack is available from ARKS,
MSA, Karting Magazine and your local kart club.
